Image: Multidisciplinary artist JG Everest was among 12 artists embedded at various Minnesota parks statewide, as part of MNPAiR (MN Parks Artists-in-Residence). The artist composed and designed a series of site-specific sound and performance installations for various sites and trails around Wild River State Park. These “Sound Gardens” are outdoor spatial symphonies, often accompanied live by roving musicians, poets, dancers, and storytellers. His goal: to create dynamic, activating environments in which visitors feel grounded and connected. Everest’s residency culminated with a four-weekend Festival Of Belonging that also included art-making workshops, yoga and Qi Gong classes, nature talks, and other interpretive programs. Visitors called the experience "transcendent," and "a balm for the soul." Read about it on the Project Highlights page in this report.
