DEEPENING OUR COMMITMENT TO BE PART OF THE CHANGE

From our Executive Director and Board Chair

It is our honor to share with you the 2021 Forecast Public Art Annual Report to the community. These stories and images celebrate everyone who helped create the conditions for Forecast to serve and thrive in the past year as we addressed some of the most challenging issues our community and our nation has faced.

This report is also an act of gratitude from our team to our partners in the community, the artists we work and collaborate with and the funders and donors who believe in our work. It is a thank you to those people who have trusted us to take risks when we were in uncharted waters advancing more equitable places, disrupting unfair practices and imagining new policies that shape a more just world.

As Forecast looks ahead at this new year, we are committed to being a part of adaptive change to advance justice, health and human dignity. Our team is growing and changing, our programs expanding and our impact deepening. As our work expands nationally, we are constantly learning in, with and from new communities, geographies and perspectives that improve our work and inspire us to share what we learn with others.

We invite you to join us by supporting this continued work to:

  • Kick off our nationwide listening tour engaging communities of color in conversations that reimagine public art and monuments to reflect hidden stories, visions, cultures and perspectives.
  • Host a national GroundWork training to prepare BIPOC artists/individuals to become public art consultants.
  • Expand our new Public Art for Racial Justice Fund—which launched this year thanks to $25,000 in small donations from community members.
  • Address the crisis in affordable housing and the role that artists can play in a new issue and series of public programs through our free, digital FORWARD publication.

With this team, our supporters and the creativity of artists, we are ready for the challenges that lay ahead and the opportunities for gratitude and celebration that we collectively need.

With Thanks,

Theresa Sweetland, Executive Director
